Important Health notice

Dear Families,

A parent of a student in kindergarten posted this and I thought it best I pass the information on to everyone:

Hi Everyone, [my child] has been diagnosed this morning with chickenpox, so kindy [and all] parents may want to keep an eye out for red spots on the skin of their children. Her case is mild and the doctor gave her medicine and says she will be well again within a few days or a week's time. I will keep her home until she no longer can bring the virus to others. Chickenpox is a normal children's virus which often does not make young kids too ill, if an adult has not had chickenpox as a kid, and therefore gets it as an adult, it can be very serious however. You can vaccinate against it. Chickenpox is contagious weeks before the outbreak so unfortunately some of the other [] kids may carry the virus and spreading it even though they are not showing signs of it yet. The only good news is that once you have had it once you are better protected against it later in life and most kids will have it before the age of five. Still, as we have just come back to school I hope [my child] will be the only case, just wanted to give you a heads up!

We would greatly appreciate your assistance with being vigilant in checking for signs of chickenpox or anything else that may be contagious and keeping your child at home if there are any symptoms. This is the only way that we can contain outbreaks.

Thank you to the parent who posted this.
