As the end of the year quickly approaches and lots of things are happening, I thought I would just try to summarise as much as possible for you. Main events are on the calendar, but I will clarify a few details and update you on a bit of what’s going on around school. Some of these dates and events are crucial for you and your children to know about. Please check carefully.

July

Monday 27 - Final Day for Tuition fees
All school fees must be settled by this date to guarantee your place. Any fees paid after this date will incur a US$5 per day late fee.

August
10 - First Day of new school year
Please endeavour to be at school for the start of the new school year. The IPC/IMYC start each unit with an Entry Point (an exciting activity that introduces the topic and gets the students enthusiastic); missing the Entry Point is disappointing for the children and detrimental to the overall understanding of the topic.

2. Mosquito update
With hospitals full of dengue cases and a few too many (3 confirmed) cases at Sunrise, we have taken the issue of prevention very seriously. Spraying harsh chemicals is unnecessary and jeopardises the health of our community. The Founders have done a great amount of research into this and we would like to share our action plan (already implemented):
2 x weekly - scour the grounds and overturn water carrying objects, shrubs or plants (eradicate unnecessary standing water)
1 x weekly – Spray the grounds with larvae killing spray (hand pump spray)
3 x weekly – Neem fogging before school (Tuesday and Thursday) and Sunday night -  with additional ingredients from Maureen
1 x per day – small bottle spray around windows & doors – lunch time – Maureen’s formula.
1 x weekly – spot drops in water areas to kill lavae
Place a mosquito lights (zappers) in each classroom + office + gudang (bale bale)
Mosquito traps (made by the students) – 15 to 20 placed all over the school.
(5 traps to be used for monitoring the mosquito population.)
The sprays, fogs and drops are all natural ingredients that can include neem, cinnamon, geraniol, lemon eucalyptus, soybean oil.
To protect yourselves and your children, please refrain from wearing dark clothing and strong perfumes. Wear repellents (and remember to re-apply). Wear long clothes as much as possible and stay out of heavy foliage.

3. Minutes of Info Session 2015-2016

This was a successful session with around 35 parents in attendance. The minutes from the meeting have been emailed to you along with the slideshow. If you didn't receive these and would like a copy, please see the office.
